The West Clermont School Board unanimously approved the Superintendentʼs Master Facilities Proposal Wednesday night at a special board meeting. This proposal addresses district wide challenges including; overcrowding, aging facilities, inequitable learning facilities, and the diverse needs of our growing student body.
The proposal includes:
– Building a new 7 and 8 middle school connected to a new 5 and 6 grade intermediate school
– Creating one new elementary school for grades PK-4 instead of replacing existing schools
– Pre-school would be housed at three of the six elementary schools
– Adding a new library to Clough Pike Elementary along with more classrooms, adding classrooms at W-T Elementary along with renovating W-Tʼs library and renovating the library at Amelia Elementary. These additions will help with space while creating a modern learning environment to foster innovation.
– Upgrades to school safety and security at all schools
– Technology and targeted furniture upgrades at all schools
“This proposal has been a work in progress for several months. Weʼve actively engaged with you to shape a master facilities plan designed to meet the needs of our students, staff, and families for years to come,” said Superintendent Natasha Adams. “This proposal will allow us to design for the unique needs of middle level learners and will preserve the idea of PK(K)-4 neighborhood schools while reflecting our communityʼs values and commitment to fiscal responsibility.”
Right now there are three finance options under consideration including an earned income tax, a property tax, or a combination of both.
We are offering a final facility tour and Town Hall at West Clermont Middle School on November 14, 2024. Then, our Board will have its regular November 25 and December 9 meetings to determine if a May 2025 ballot issue is needed and to pass the necessary resolutions.
