What in your background qualifies you to serve in this position?

I have managed departments, supervised people, taught a wide variety of subjects, been involved with different boards, and along the way, learned everything about myself possible. I have worked with people from diverse backgrounds, varying beliefs, knowledge & skill levels. In every career field, I have been asked to educate team members & oversee quality assurance. Working as a program administrator for the Knox County Career Center, I was responsible for making sure that documents were acquired, recorded & filed according to government standards for financial aid. At multiple schools, I was very involved with the accreditation process, which is a lengthy & detailed process. I understand the importance of detailed paperwork, and am familiar with navigating the Ohio Revised Code.

I am an outspoken advocate for mental healthcare, harm reduction & recovery services, as well as women’s rights. I help families & community members connect with themselves & each other, through positive touch, energy play & creativity. I teach people how to ground into earth, explore in nature, show up in community & listen to their bodies. How to downshift our nervous ystems. I have a long herstory of volunteering with & supporting security at women’s festivals, of holding sacred space for community members.

Why are you running for this position?

I’m running for Recorder in Clermont County. Because who writes history matters. Because representation matters. Because we need more women in office. Because it takes a village to raise a village, and I needed to be more actively involved. The call came, and I answered.

As a lifelong resident with deep family roots in SW Ohio, I am dedicated to expanding on the strong legacy of retiring Recorder, Deborah Clepper. I stand for fairness, accessibility, and opportunity for all. With an extensive background in education, community development, and public service, I am uniquely qualified to serve our county.

What is your platform? What are the most pressing issues facing Clermont County that come before someone who is elected to the position you seek? If elected, what would you seek to enhance and improve Clermont County?

My opponent has a well-known name as a long-time politician in the area, although some folks in his affiliated party have already stated their intention to vote for me. The only name I want to talk about for Clermont County Recorder is Diane Fisher. I will put the county first, not my own salary. I will bring the office to the public, helping people understand what happens there, how the work impacts all of us, how deed fraud happens. I want to offer veterans the ability to file their DD214s onsite, instead of only in the Batavia office.

I’m a first-time candidate, and along with campaigning, I’ve been shadowing and seeking to learn from a variety of Recorders in Ohio. The entire experience has been full of learning, connecting & stretching beyond comfort. I am grateful for the neighbors I’ve met along the way, and I look forward to getting to know more of you as we grow. Because there’s no doubt Clermont is growing. The questions are about how we want to grow.
