Georgia Alma Altherr, passed on October 9, 2024 at the Baptist Health in Corbin. Born on September 4, 1926, in Whitley County, Kentucky to Roy Parsley and Ethel Lowe Parsley, Georgia lived a resilient life filled with love, care, and an unwavering faith.
Georgia was a beacon of warmth in every life she touched. A devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and great-grandmother, her love for her family was as boundless as her faith. She is survived by her daughters Mary Lou Giles of Corbin, Kentucky and Judi Turner (Jack) of Texas.; her grandsons Patrick Giles and David Giles (Renea); her granddaughter Elaine Day (Lee); and her great-grandchildren Brandyn Day, Dylan Giles, Allyson Giles, and Aubrey Giles.
She is also survived by her brother RH Parsley of Middletown, Ohio and sister(s); Joyce, Billie Ruth of Harlan, County Kentucky. Also she leaves behind several nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends to mourn her passing.
Georgia was predeceased by her beloved husband William E. Altherr, her parents Roy and Ethel (Lowe) Parsley, stepchildren William T. Altherr and Frances Altherr, her brothers ST Parsley, Johnny Parsley, and Infant Brother, and her sister Doris Parsley.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Corbin, KY,
As we bid farewell to our beloved Georgia, we would like to extend an invitation to celebrate her life. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at the Greenlawn Cemetery, Milford, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital in memory of Georgia life and legacy.
