The Clermont County Mental Health and Recovery Board is pleased to announce the awarding of 14 mini-grants to local organizations for the period of July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025. These grants, totaling $30,000, will support evidence-based programs that enhance mental health and prevent addiction within Clermont County. Each project received up to $3,000 in funding, reflecting the Board’s commitment to fostering community well-being.
The mini-grants are a part of the Board’s ongoing efforts to plan, fund, and monitor mental health and addiction services across Clermont County. This year’s recipients represent a diverse group of organizations, all dedicated to improving the lives of county residents through targeted, impactful initiatives.
The organizations receiving the mini-grants are:
– Bluebird Bus of Hope, Mentoring Services: To expand mentoring services, particularly in underserved, rural communities by training additional mentors to become certified community life coaches. This initiative aims to strengthen connections to mental health and addiction recovery services.
– Clermont County Public Health (2 grants awarded):
– Wound Care Kits and Xylazine Test Strips: Funding to purchase Xylazine test strips and wound care kits for distribution through the Clermont County Bloodborne Infectious Disease Prevention Program. This program offers harm reduction services, including syringe exchange, naloxone distribution, and HIV and Hepatitis C testing.
– Inter Parish Ministry, Food Pantry Summer Picnic: To provide summer picnics, hot meals, and “pop-up” picnics in various communities, along with mental health resource information and empowerment items. This program supports the well-being of food-insecure families and individuals.
– Milford Boyd E. Smith Elementary School, Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS): To fund data management tools, “Zones of Regulation” supplies, and other resources for the PBIS program, which focuses on improving student behavior and outcomes.
– Milford Mulberry Elementary School, PBIS Tier 2: To purchase materials for “sensory paths” and “peace corners” to support the school’s PBIS program.
– Milford Pattison Elementary, Second Step Social Emotional Learning: To support the purchase of additional curriculum materials for social-emotional learning in primary grades.
– Milford School District, Sources of Strength (SOS): Funding for the SOS program in six elementary schools. SOS focuses on suicide prevention and enhancing student resilience and well-being.
– New Richmond Middle School, Sources of Strength (SOS): To continue efforts in improving student mental health through early intervention and suicide prevention training.
– Streetlight Ministry, Homeless Outreach: To provide essential resources and connect the homeless population with mental health, addiction, and other services.
– St. Vincent de Paul, Charitable Pharmacy: To support staffing at the Charitable Pharmacy, which provides free medication and health education to uninsured and underinsured individuals.
– West Clermont Merwin Elementary, PBIS: To fund a digital management system for PBIS Rewards and to purchase additional prizes for the school’s “Mustang Market.”
– West Clermont School District, Feeding and Fueling Minds: To offer workshops focused on food, nutrition, and mental health, aimed at empowering families with healthy life choices.
– YWCA House of Peace, Support Groups: To provide learning materials and self-care supplies for support groups addressing trauma, emotional regulation, and healthy relationships among residents.
