Batavia senior and Austin Peay commit Emily Steiner has had a terrific senior season thus far. She has scored eight goals and recorded five assists in the Bulldogs’ first seven matches. She is your Clermont Sun Athlete of the Week!
Q: Favorite professional or collegiate soccer player?
A: Crystal Dunn because she doesn’t let her height define her game.
Q: How have you been able to have so much success early on this season?
A: I have been able to have early success this season due to every one of my teammates. We have been able to progress and work as a team throughout the beginning of our season and it’s showing on the field, with not only my play but everyone’s play around me as well.
Q: What does your team need to do to keep up your winning ways?
A: My team and I need to continue to have dedication and hard work at practice pushing everyone to be the best they can be to keep our winning streak alive. We also need to continue to grow our connections with one another on and off the field, which will make our flow of the game smoother.
Q: How special is it to be able to represent the Batavia community?
A: Being able to represent the Batavia community is a huge honor for me. My family has been around this community for their whole lives. I’ve grown up in Batavia playing soccer since I was three years old, so being able to be a figure for our women’s soccer team is truly an honor and I am thankful for every bit of it.
Q: What will you miss most about being a Batavia student-athlete when it is all set and done?
A: The thing I will miss the most is the atmosphere that I have been blessed with, and the encouragement from all of our student-athletes for one another.
