A multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 275 in Miami Township has left two local men with serious injuries.

The Batavia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the serious injury crash that involved four vehicles.

The crash happened on July 23 at about 6:33 a.m. on I-275 near state Route 28.

According to information from the Batavia Post of the OSHP, Phil Couch, 48, of Cincinnati, was driving a Chevrolet Silverado southbound on I-275 when he traveled into the median and hit a cable barrier.

Couch’s vehicle then crossed into the northbound lanes where it hit a Ford Fusion, driven by Khaled

Jawish, 43, of Cincinnati, and a Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Kyle Sons, 32, of Batavia.

After the first crash, both Jawish’s and Sons’ vehicles traveled off of the right side of the road where both hit a concrete wall.

A fourth vehicle, a Toyota RAV 4, driven by Juliet Ellison, 61, of Cincinnati, was hit by debris from the crash.

Couch and Jawish sustained serious injuries and were transported to Bethesda North Hospital by emergency medical services. Both were later transferred to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Sons sustained minor injuries and was transported to Anderson Mercy Hospital by EMS.

Ellison sustained no injuries from the crash.

The OSHP was helped at the scene by the Miami Twp. Police Department, Miami Twp. Fire and EMS, and the Ohio Department of Transportation.

The crash remains under investigation at this time.
