Through May 12 (Mother’s Day), Loveland Police Department officers will ask drivers who receive a written traffic warning to donate diapers to the Care Center’s diaper drive.

This program, modeled after LPD’s successful Food for Fines program held during the 2023 holiday season, asks drivers issued a written warning to voluntarily donate desperately needed diapers to the Care Center.

“We are thrilled to announce our partnership with the Loveland Police Department, which will generously serve as one of the drop-off locations for our Diaper Drive. Together, we are taking strides toward making a tangible difference in the lives of families in our community,” said Greg Knake, Executive Director of the Care Center.

The Care Center, which is located at the Northstar Church campus in Loveland, supports local families by providing developmental resources — job skill training, counseling and financial assistance as examples — plus physical resources like meals and personal hygiene products. The center has provided 43,920 diapers — an essential when caring for small children — to families in the Loveland area over the past six months, but the need continues to grow.

“Loveland officers take their responsibility to our community very seriously and when we see an opportunity to help, especially mothers and babies, we find a way. We are using our contact with drivers who are issued a traffic warning for minor violations to Do Your Duty – Become a Diaper Hero and help a local family in need,” said LPD Chief Michael Gabrielson.

Want to help with the collection effort? Donated diapers can be dropped off at the Care Center or Northstar Church (11020 S Lebanon Road) or the lobby of the Loveland Safety Center (126 S Lebanon Road).
