The UC Clermont Men’s basketball team made it all the way to the DII USCAA National Championship Game this season. Kenyon Gardner was key piece to their success, averaging 14.6 PPG and 7.9 RPG. He capped off a strong season by being named to the USCAA DII All Tournament Team. He is your Clermont Sun Athlete of the Week.

A: Making it to the national championship game

Q: What have you done to improve throughout your basketball career?

A: Kept pushing myself to be better

Q: What does the success that both you individually and your team were able to have this season mean to you? What in your mind is the biggest reason for that success?

A: It means a lot knowing that UC Clermont hasn’t made it that far in quite a few years and to be able to be a part of something like that was just really fun as a team. Individually I can say I was a big part of the help along the way but we wouldn’t have made it without playing like a team.

Q: Who would you like to thank for helping you get to where you are today?

A: I would like to thank my little brother and my teammates for pushing me to work harder.

Q: What makes the UC Clermont community so special in your eyes?

A: Everyone comes together as a whole and supports us.
