The Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary (DAVA) Unit #63 (Clermont County) and the DAV Department of Ohio joined together to co-sponsor the Second Women Veterans Luncheon on March 25, 2024, held at the Country Inn, in Georgetown, Ohio.

The first Women Veterans Luncheon was started by retired Army Veteran Cheryl Childers, the DAV Chapter #63 (Clermont County) Senior Vice Commander in 2023.

“It was an opportunity to have Women Veterans get together and discuss common problems that we faced in the military,” explained Army Veteran Childers, “ and how we are overcoming obstacles we are facing.”

“We had twenty-one (21) female veterans from different branches of the military coming in from Adams, Brown, Clermont and Highland Counties for the first luncheon and everyone agreed we should continue it in the future,” stated Childers.

Last year, DAV Chapter #63 (Clermont County) sponsored the first Women Veterans luncheon and provided the speaker for event. This year, the DAVA Unit #63 provided a donation of $100 and the DAV Department of Ohio donated $200 to cover the entire cost of the luncheon.

“The DAV Department of Ohio is proud to cosponsor this luncheon and the timing is fortuitous,” commented State Adjutant Michael Stith, “because the DAV National Headquarters, released in March of 2024, a new report, entitled Women Veterans: The Journey to Mental Wellness.”

“Women Veterans: The Journey to Mental Wellness marks DAV’s third report addressing the unique experiences and needs of women who wore the military uniform of our Country,” explained State Adjutant Stith.

“DAVA Unit #63 is honored to help cosponsor this luncheon for the women veterans in our rural regional area,” stated Unit #63 Commander Shirley Plahovinsak. “Women veterans served and often there was no direct transition to civilian life. This luncheon is our humble way to say to them, “Welcome Home and Thank You!”
