Diana Hackenberg, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on January 8, 2024, at the age of 72. She was born on March 9, 1951, to James and Doris Goode of Barberton, OH.

Diana was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lynn Hackenberg (married May 31, 1975), and her cherished daughter Jaclyn Pobiega, survived by her husband Michael. She is remembered with love and fondness by her surviving family members: brothers Ronald (the late Pamela) Goode, Robert (the late Debra) Goode, Scott (Juanita) Goode, and Glenn (Alexis DeCrescenzo) Goode; sister-in-law Cathy (Jeff) Miller; step-daughter Kim Hatton; daughter Jennifer (Jason) Yoder; granddaughters Olivia Hatton and Ellen Pobiega; grandson Robert Pobiega; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and a nephew.

Diana’s life was marked by her dedication to service and community. In her youth, she was actively involved in the Future Secretaries of America and the National Honor Society. Diana was not only a devoted church attendee but also a lifelong member of the Girl Scouts of America. She found solace and community within her church, where she connected with others through shared faith and values. Her commitment to the Girl Scouts reflected her dedication to service, leadership, and the principles of friendship, community, and empowerment that the organization embodies.

Diana began her professional journey at Gerber Pharmacy & Soda Shop during her high school years. After graduation, she worked diligently as a legal department secretary at Babcock & Wilcox in Barberton, OH until 1977. Following her husband’s career, she moved a few times and they ended up in Cincinnati, OH where Diana became the eastern area secretary of United Way until 1994. In 1995 she became employed with Clermont Northeastern Schools as the elementary secretary and educational aide until 2013 when she retired.

Diana’s legacy of love, service, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family, her commitment to her community, and her spirit that touched the lives of so many.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Venice Hall, 563 W. Tuscarawas Ave, Barberton, OH 44203. Followed immediately by a burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Friends and family are invited to attend the celebration and asked to bring any picture and story they wish to share about Diana.
