The New Richmond Lions boys basketball team fell to Wilmington 52-47 on Feb.16 in what was the regular season finale for both teams. The loss drops them to 5-17 on the season, 2-8 in SBAAC play. Here are some takeaways from the contest.

Ryan Keith has heart

This was my first time getting a chance to watch Ryan Keith, and he made an immediate impression. He’s a six-four junior forward with a scrappy playing style, and he never gives up on a play. He finished the game with 10 points and 11 rebounds while shooting an efficient 5-6 in the process. “Ryan Keith was outstanding tonight in finishing around the rim and rebounding on both ends of the floor,” said Lions head coach Eric Thompson. Keith should be a headache on the boards for whoever his team plays in the upcoming sectionals.

Rylan Utter is a legitimate volume scorer

Rylan Utter is averaging 16.5 PPG this season, and I can see why. The senior guard seems to have a knack for getting into good scoring areas, and converts at a high rate when he does. He finished this game with a team-high 19 points, getting more and more in rhythm as the game went on. Utter is a hard guy to stop for anybody.
