The New Richmond girls basketball team fell to Western Brown on Monday, Feb. 6 by a score of 76-47. The loss dropped the Lions to 3-18 on the season and 1-9 in SBAAC play. Western Brown finishes another impressive regular season at 16-6.
The story early on in this one was Western Brown’s press. For the final six and a half minutes or so of the first quarter, New Richmond struggled mightily to get the ball over half-court and into their sets. The Broncos did a great job converting steals into layups, and it showed on the scoreboard. They led 30-4 at the break and never looked back.
Although things looked dire for the Lions on the scoreboard, the complete level and no-quit attitude that’s been evident all season, persisted. The Lions were able to hit four threes in the later part of the second quarter and give the home crowd something to cheer about.
