The Milford Eagles won their first outright ECC title since 1986 this past fall and finished 10-0 in the regular season for the first time in school history. Linebacker/running back Tofa Luani was a key piece to their success, registering 83 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and 15.0 tackles for loss. The senior recently announced his commitment to the University of Cincinnati as a preferred walk-on linebacker.
Luani has worked hard at his game to get to this point. He credits his improvement as a player to working on “just having good vision and change of direction”. He will join a linebacker room at UC that has seven scholarship athletes, so he will have his work cut out for him if he wants to see the field. Luani has built good relationships with the coaching staff there and feels like UC is a good spot for him. “The amount of support from the community and after many visits with the coaches made it feel like home. They are going to push me to the max and get me ready to play at the next level.”
Luani will look to help a Bearcat team that went 3-9 overall last season, including a 1-8 finish in Big 12 play.
