Vietnam Veterans of America, Clermont County Chapter 649 has announced that they will award four $1,000 scholarships again this year. Chapter 649 has been awarding college scholarships to local students for the past eight years. The program is possible because of their annual fund-raising activities including their annual golf outing, raffle, and donations from the community. They began with one $500 scholarship and have increased the number of scholarships and the dollar amount each year. John Plahovinsak, Chairman of the VVA 649 Scholarship Committee explained the process of selection. “Applications are accepted from local high school seniors residing in Clermont County whose parent, grandparent, or great-grandparent is a veteran. The criteria for the award include academic level, community service, character, and the application process itself.” Applications must be postmarked no later than midnight, April 30.

Students interested in applying should ask their school advisor about the program or download the application by clicking on the scholarship button on the Chapter 649 website at www.vva649.org.
