Going into the MLS offseason United States Men’s National Team defender Miles Robinson was considered one of the top free agents. However many felt he would follow the path that some of his national team teammates have recently taken and head over to Europe. He did no such thing. The 26 year old is taking his talents to the Queen City.
Last week FC Cincinnati announced they have signed Robinson through 2024, with a club option for 2025. Robinson had spent his entire MLS career with Atlanta United after being selected second overall in the 2017 MLS Superdraft following his collegiate career at Syracuse. Robinson recorded 123 caps during that time period, and was twice named to the MLS best Xl. With Nick Hagglund recovering from a hamstring injury, and Yosen Mosquera long since departed, the team had a clear need on the backline. Robinson is a top tier MLS defender and should help fill that void. “We are thrilled that Miles chose to continue his career in Cincinnati,” said Chris Albright, FC Cincinnati General Manager in a press release following the signing of Robinson. “He is an elite defender with a dynamic skillset who already has an incredible amount of MLS and international experience. His personality and character are an immediate addition to our locker room and we’d like to welcome him to FC Cincinnati.”
