The transition from High School to College basketball is far from an easy one. The increased speed of the game and exposure to unfamiliar environments can be challenging for some student-athletes. Freshman UC Clermont guard Dalton Kramer has not only proved he belongs, he’s been a flat-out star. I spoke with Dalton about his experience, background, and more!

Q: What has helped you achieve success right away in your college career?

A: Being active on defense has really helped me get into my groove this year. Sometimes you aren’t going to make shots but you can always control how you guard. So a lot of the time a steal will translate into an easy bucket and sort of get me going offensively. When it comes to the half-court side on offense, I would say being patient and taking what the defense is giving me. I have had a lot of success so far this year with my mid-range and floater game because I have learned to play off two feet.
