The township administrator for Union Township is resigning, according to a recent announcement from the township.

On Nov. 15, Union Township shared the news that Township Administrator Susan Ayers submitted her

resignation to the Union Township Board of Trustees, which was accepted at a Board of Trustees Emergency Meeting that day.

Ayres will help with the transition of the work she has been performing on behalf of the township. Her last day of employment with the township will be Dec. 5.

Ayers was appointed as Union Township Administrator in March 2022.

According to earlier reporting by The Sun, Ayers replaced then interim, outgoing administrator, Cory Wright, who was filling in for longtime administrator Ken Geis.

Ayers’ salary agreement was $135,000, and her contract extends through Dec. 31, 2024.

“The Township Trustees appreciate Mrs. Ayers’s contributions to the Township over the last 20 months as the Township Administrator and wish Mrs. Ayers well in her future endeavors,” the announcement stated. “Mrs. Ayers likewise extends her best wishes for the continued success to the Township and its residents.”

Ayers has a background in law and city management. She previously served as the assistant city manager in Middletown.
