New Richmond is spreading the holiday spirit with two upcoming opportunities to help support the local community.

The eighth annual New Richmond High School craft fair is set for Saturday, Nov. 18, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at New Richmond High School, 1131 Bethel New Richmond Road.

More than 80 vendors will be represented this year, selling items including handmade crafts, soap, jewelry, and homemade treats. Representatives from several national brands will also be in attendance.

All vendors will be in the gym and theater lobby, and a concession stand will be open throughout the day. There will also be a raffle featuring products from all the vendors, along with items donated by members of the community.

Proceeds from the craft fair help support the school’s marching band as well as Lions Reach Out, a local charity that helps families in need during the holidays.

Sue Griffin is the Founder/Coordinator of Lions Reach Out.

She further explained that the craft fair raises money for the NRHS marching band’s uniform fund and for Lions Reach Out

“The band has grown to about a hundred members and hopes to replace uniforms every five years, and Lions Reach Out anticipates more than 200 children on the Christmas list this year,” Griffin said.

She added, “Both are worthy causes and all the money generated by the craft fair goes directly to students involved in the band and families in the New Richmond community.”

Lions Reach Out is also recruiting sponsors and donors for children and/or families for Christmas.

“I already have about 200 children on the Christmas list and I need help to make sure they all have a good Christmas,” Griffin reiterated.

She explained that money raised at Christmas is also saved for other expenses/emergencies during the school year.
