The New Batavia Sports Complex is the new home to the 18 Hole Disc Golf Course located at 1535 Clough Pike, Batavia, Ohio. The Grand Opening was held on October 11.
The Batavia Township Trustees approved the installation of the course to be located in the 5-acre area near the front of the park.
Township Staff reached out to Donny Conrad, with Chains on Main in Williamsburg. Donny and Members of the CCDGC helped design the course and provide feedback on improvements. Township Service employees cleared the area of some tree limbs (no trees were removed), poison ivy, and those pesky ground hornets. Service Staff formed and poured the 18 pads and installed the baskets. They also installed two culvert bridges to allow an easier path on the course across the ditch. The 18 tee pads are made of concrete and are 5 feet by 10 feet, providing an excellent launching pad.
The course is a Par 3 and takes about 45 minutes to complete one round. Residents and players can download the UDisc App to assist with course directions and scorekeeping. All course information and the QR Code is posted at Hole #1.
Events and Tournaments will be played on the course throughout the year. The Township looks forward to the increased exposure to the area and providing a new sport to the park for residents.
