Roberts is the The Clermont Sun’s new Sports Editor
The Clermont Sun is proud to announce that Casey Roberts is our new Sports Editor.
Roberts is a former football, basketball, and baseball player.
Roberts is from Stanford, Kentucky. He and his wife of six years, Josely, are parents to their five-year-old daughter, Adella.
Roberts explained that his road to the sports writing world was an unconventional one.
“However from the time I was a kid, I would routinely read every bit of sports literature I could find. This included biographies from my school’s library, begging for the latest edition of sports illustrated, and battling dial-up internet in hopes of catching a glimpse of ESPN.com,” he said. “When I inevitably couldn’t get my internet to work, I would intently watch and mimic sports media personalities such as Stephen A. Smith, Kirk Herbstreit, and Joe Buck.”
Roberts explained that when an opportunity to contribute to a local publication became available to him many years later, he discovered his experience with media from the athlete’s perspective, and many years of reading articles from some of the best writers in the world, gave him the potential to make my own mark on the world of sports journalism.
“Ohio and more specifically the greater Cincinnati area is notorious for producing high-level athletes,” Roberts shared. “Along with my relocation to the area, having the privilege to cover and build relationships with the schools, athletes, coaches, and communities within the coverage area was an exciting opportunity.”
Roberts explained his approach to reporting on local sports.
“Highlighting the athletes and teams in a factual, non-biased, and entertaining manner is my priority,” he said.
