On August 18, 2023, the Batavia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, in conjunction with the Goshen Township Police Department, held an OVI Checkpoint between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on State Route 28 near State Route 48 in Goshen Township, Clermont County.
During the operation of the checkpoint, a total of 965 vehicles were checked; two of which, were diverted to the testing area for suspicion of OVI. The drivers of the diverted vehicles were administered field sobriety testing and determined to not be under the influence. One driver was cited for misdemeanor drug possession.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol reminds drivers that if you plan to consume alcohol, designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before you drink. Don’t let another life be lost for the senseless and selfish act of getting behind the wheel impaired.
