I’m going to tell you a little more about CNE Alumni. There is one person I need to tell you a little more about. Nancy; oh my goodness! Our families were friends so she and I became friends. I went to her house one time as friends do. She had a great idea! We put on bathing suits, got umbrellas and beach towels. We sat by the side of the road in Perintown (which one I don’t remember). Anyway, we lounged on the ground with our legs crossed and poised. There were not a lot of drivebys, but a few honked the horn. What a “RIP!” Oh yeah, here is another thing I remember about Nancy. She had a party at her sister’s house in Batavia. We were in eighth grade, or maybe Freshman. Well, we played Spin the Bottle! You know that game, right? Then we played Seven Minutes in Heaven! Here is what you did. You went into a closet with a guy and spent seven minutes together in the dark. I got to play with Gary Glick, a new guy that was very cool. You know what I mean. It was great! I learned how to kiss. I think. Nancy grew up and married Joe, the guy with the best car at Frischs in Milford. She is still crazy and still wonderful!

Saturday night was Alumni for all of CNE. I sat at our 63’ table with just about the same people from the night before. I got to talk to Carolyn, another friend. She told me how God had blessed her and cured her of a potentially life-threatening brain issue. It was a great conversation between two Christians. There were some folks there that actually graduated from Owensville School. Loretta Burdsall, I had to hug. She has been in my life for a long time. Great to see her. Betty Brown. You know Betty, she and her husband “Brownie” owned the store in Owensville. It is sad to go by and see it empty. They let my mom run a tab so my stepbrother could bring in the football team for a treat. The food was good, the conversation was good; 60 years is a long time. Memories are one of God’s greatest gifts. God Bless all of you who went to Owensville and CNE, past and present. Be good to yourself. Say a prayer for all the kids just starting school. Talk to you soon!!
