Well, you already know how old I am. So now you know I graduated from CNE High School in 1963. 60 years ago! Oh My Goodness! Twenty-three of my classmates met Friday night at Deer Track. It was wonderful! So great to see old friends. They all seemed to have the same personalities. I do not always remember names, but I never forget a face. Several times I had to think really hard to get the name right. I will tell you about some of my classmates … I must first mention my very best friend ever, Barbara Jean! We have been friends since first grade. We are connected by the heart! She even looks the same! How does she do that? Russ Ward was the President of our class. He is still the strong, smart, leader he was in high school. He helped plan the meeting. How can I tell you about Fred? You know Fred. My mother thought he was a Nazi! He was and is a very intelligent guy. He studied everything known to man and he forgets nothing. He became my first friend that was a guy! We talked on the phone so much that the party line went crazy! He was very interested in Hitler and WW2, thus the Nazi!! LOL! It was great to see Paul D. His smile is still as great as it was in high school. Bill Puckett was the first person I saw when I went in the door to my first-grade room. He was at a desk sitting very quietly. He is still pretty quiet. David Reynolds bought me the first corsage I ever had. For a dance in the eighth grade. He is still laughing even when people think he is his brother. I have spent a lot of time with his wife Ruthann. She is a little bit younger but they go together pretty well. I met Ann when I got out of the car. She belonged to our group! You know who you are! Smart, kind, always.
There are many more; all wonderful. We have changed. We have all worked hard and made something of ourselves. Just as we did in 1963!
There is a lot more to tell you, so tune in next week. The number one song on WING radio in October ‘62 was, guess what; “Return To Sender!”
God Bless!!
