The Williamsburg Garden Club recently toured Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum. It is a National Historic Landmark, established in 1845 and consisting of 733 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds. Several State and National Champion trees are among the many unusual specimens found in the “outdoor museum”. Members enjoyed a guided tram tour and stopped along the way for a visit to the burial site of Maj. Gen. William Lytle, the founder of Williamsburg and often referred to as “The Father of Clermont County”. He is interred alongside his grandson, Brig. Gen William Haines Lytle, a Civil War hero, who was killed at the battle of Chickamauga. The hostess for the evening was Holly Vick. The Club welcomes new members.
