The Cincinnati Civic Orchestra in cooperation with Empower Youth, a non-profit organization that works to make leaders from students who need a fair shake at life, will host a concert at Bethel Burke Park on Wednesday, July 26th at 7:00 p.m. for part of the orchestra’s summer pops concert titled “The Best of Broadway.” The orchestra will celebrate American musical theater with music from SHOWBOAT that is considered to be the first Broadway musical and the ever popular The Sound of Music by Rodgers and Hammerstein. Other music included on the program will be from Brigadoon, the first musical to be adapted for a national television broadcast, The Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables which are two of the longest running Broadway musicals, Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story and Ragtime.

Empower Youth is proud to host the concert as part of their “Picnic in the Park” Summer program at Burke Park. The Cincinnati Civic Orchestra is one of the nation’s oldest all-volunteer symphony orchestras, performing its 94th season of free concerts for appreciative audiences throughout the Greater Cincinnati area. Empower Youth and the Cincinnati Civic Orchestra invite you to bring a lawn chair and enjoy this wonderful selection of music.
