Contractor killed in electric line accident

A man was killed Aug. 15 in Monroe Township after accidentally hitting an electric line with a ladder, the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office said.

At 9:58 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office received a call of a man electrocuted near the 2000 block of Franklin Laurel Rd.

A four-man contract work crew with Fasten Pro Roofing LLC were preparing to paint the roof of a barn when a crew member identified as 41-year-old Everett Glenn Hampton “accidentally hit an electric line with the ladder he was moving,” police said.

Monroe Township EMS requested Air Care to respond to the scene, but efforts to resuscitate Hamption were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:25 a.m. by Clermont County Coroner Brian Treon.

The Sheriff’s Office said they investigated the scene and interviewed witnesses. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was contacted by the Sheriff’s Office to also investigate the scene.

Hampton’s body was taken to the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office for autopsy.

The investigation is ongoing.
