Vietnam Veterans of America Clermont County Chapter 649 recently awarded three college scholarships in the amount of $500 each to Paige Dixon and Nicholas Reichardt of West Clermont High School and Maria Torok of Bethel Tate High School.

The scholarship award program is an annual event for VVA 649 and is funded through their annual fundraising events.

Phil Dodge, Chairman of the VVA 649 Scholarship Committee explained the process of selection. “We had six applicants from three high schools in Clermont County; (West Clermont, Bethel Tate, and Goshen). Scholarships were available to students whose parent or grandparent is a veteran. The criteria included academic level, financial need, community service, character, and the application process itself.”

VVA 649 hopes to increase the number of scholarships in 2019. Anyone wishing to help fund the program may contact the chapter through their website www.vva649.org. Applications for the 2019 scholarships will be posted on the website in the fall of 2018.
