George Rooks: The honeybees are swarming

Howdy folks–I went to another greenhouse last week between Hamersville and Georgetown. This was the first year for these folks to have the greenhouse. The owners sure have it looking good. The owners are Jared and Shelly Cornett. They bought the greenhouse this year and are doing a fine job raising beautiful plants, as well as having mulch and other items to sell. They are along State Route 125 and their telephone number is 937-379-1370. You will be met by a big smile and them saying “Can I help you?”

The memorial program at the old church here in the East Fork Park was wonderful with almost 90 folks attending. The service included music by the Kenner Express and John Hale singing. The folks sure enjoyed the music. Mrs. Brown and her children cleaned and decorated the church. The service started at 10 AM and lasted until 11 AM. Then the Legion from Bethel held their service in the cemetery honoring the veterans. They always do a super job. After they finished that service, they went down to the lake to honor the veterans that have died at sea.

The honeybees have swarmed three times here at my place. Last week one swarm was here on Monday but I had a Lions meeting and when I got home they had left. Then on Tuesday there was another swarm and I put them in a hive. Then on Friday another swarm came and I put them in a hive for a neighbor. I have another hive ready for the next swarm. I got a bottle of lemon grass also called premium swarm and it works.

The circus last Sunday that the Bethel Lions sponsored was a great event. Paul and I, like a lot of folks, were wondering how it would be without the animals. Well folks, it was very good. The acts performed were good – one fellow was swinging things with fire. He didn’t seem to get burned. All the acts were excellent and I wondered how they get the big tent up. If you missed it you missed a good one. The Lions Club has had the circus here for several years. This is one way the Lions raise money to help the school band to buy uniforms. They also help buy eyeglasses. The Lions Club has groups are all over the world. If you would like to join the Bethel Lions, give me a call.

I talked to Mike and the fishing is good. Channel catfish, stripers, crappy, bluegills, musky and bass are all being caught.

Mr. Chester is fine. My daughter Debby got to pick the first ripe tomato today.

Start your week by going to the house of worship of your choice and praising the good Lord.

God bless all . . .
