Auden Nichols

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is thrilled to announce that Auden Nichols has been named the Tri-State Southern Ohio Chapter’s newest Honored Hero. Honored Heroes are dedicated individuals, or family members, affected by blood cancer who are actively providing support for LLS. Auden is an adventurous and enthusiastic 6-year-old who has been battling T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia since the age of 3.

As an Honored Hero, Auden will be given the opportunity to share his story with his community and to encourage others to participate in events put on by LLS.

Auden was diagnosed with T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia in May 2015. While his treatment will continue until August of this year, Auden is in remission! Despite his diagnosis, he has remained a cheerful young boy who loves the outdoors. Some of his favorite activities include four wheeling, driving Papa’s boat, swimming with his twin sister, Emery, hiking, and playing soccer. Although his treatment is coming to an end, Auden has experienced very difficult times throughout his 3-year battle.

Unfortunately, he’s dealt with blood stream infections, sepsis, anaphylactic reactions, kidney stones, and broken bones—just to name a few. Even through these challenging times, Auden has proved to be extremely resilient. He has bounced back from these difficult moments with lightning-speed, and, most importantly, has stayed strong and remained the happy boy his parents and sister always knew him to be.

The Tri-State Southern Ohio Chapter of LLS could not be more excited to welcome Auden to the Honored Heroes Program.

Auden, and other LLS advocates like him, will be participating in the Tri-State Southern Ohio’s Light The Night Walk, at Yeatman’s Cove, on October 11, 2018. Light The Night is an event where volunteers, caretakers, survivors, and supporters walk together to end cancer. The money raised at this event will benefit the funding of blood cancer research, an effort LLS has had a leading role in for over 50 years. Participants carry lanterns of three different colors during the walk, each representing a different member of the LLS community. Red lanterns are carried by supporters, gold lanterns are carried in memory of loved ones, and white lanterns are carried by survivors. The walk gathers the unconditional love and support of the LLS community in order to bring light to the darkness of cancer.
