Mercy Health – Cincinnati, which provides advanced, quality, compassionate care in your neighborhood through its care network, marks National Volunteer Week by thanking its many volunteers. These dedicated men and women help make remarkable care possible not only for our patients, their family and friends but also for our nurses, doctors and staff.

While National Volunteer Week runs from April 15-21, Mercy Health’s volunteers deliver services that benefit our community directly every week. They serve in a wide variety of roles, including clinic physicians and nurse practitioners, greeters, clerks, aides, messengers, patient partners and ambassadors, transporters, drivers and more.

Mercy Health – Cincinnati had over 1,400 active volunteers at its hospitals in 2017. These volunteers provided more than 130,500 hours of service last year. More volunteers serve at Mercy Health’s senior living facility and other locations. Some have served as volunteers for more than 30 years, surpassing a remarkable 30,000 hours of service. During National Volunteer Week, Mercy Health will honor the volunteers with celebrations to note a job well done.

“It’s no secret that our volunteers play a significant role. They help provide our patients with compassionate care and also ensure that our hospitals run smoothly,” said Mercy Health – Cincinnati CEO and Senior Vice President Mike Garfield. “By giving freely of their time, energy and enthusiasm, they create a welcoming environment for patients and staff. I thank our volunteers for their commitment and dedication.”
