Dear Editor:

I have been a Board member for the Clermont County Board of Developmental Disabilities for four years and am currently its Board President. During my time on the Board, I have learned about this agency and the many people it serves.

In the upcoming Primary Election on May 8, 2018, Clermont DD is asking voters to approve a .75 mill renewal levy. This operating levy is one that comes up for renewal every five years. It costs the owner of a $100,000 home $21 per year. Passage of the Renewal Levy will maintain existing programs and responsibly address waiting lists.

This Renewal Levy will not increase your taxes—you will simply continue to pay what you have been paying, since this levy was first passed in 2003. At that time, Clermont DD was serving 1,300 children and adults with developmental disabilities; that number has increased over the years. Now, Clermont DD serves 2,000 children and adults, and this number will most likely continue to grow in the future.

On May 8, I am asking that you support the Clermont County Board of Developmental Disabilities by voting for their Renewal Levy. For more detailed information, please visit their website at www.clermontddlevy.com.
