Vietnam Veterans of America, Clermont County Chapter 649 will conduct a ceremony on Friday, March 30th at 6:00 P.M. at the Vietnam Memorial in The Union Township
Veterans Memorial Park to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam war.
Each veteran in attendance will be honored with the reading of their name and branch of service and presented with a 50th Commemoration lapel/hat pin.
The observance of the 50th anniversary of the start of the Vietnam War began in 2012 with a proclamation by The President of The United States.
The objective is to honor the veterans and their families for their sacrifice during the county’s 13 year engagement in Vietnam. At that time, the Federal Government partnered with state and local governments, private organizations, and communities across America to participate in the Commemoration. Governor Kasich set aside March 30th for Ohio’s day of observance. VVA 649 is a Commemorative Partner and has pledged to recognize the event annually.
Veterans Memorial Park is located at the corner of Clough Pike and Glen Este-Withamsville Rd. For more information go to www.vva649.org.
