Batavia man dies in vehicle crash

The Batavia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a two vehicle fatal traffic crash.

The crash occurred on January 2, 2018, at approximately 7:23 P.M. on Old State Route 32, near Brunk Road, in Batavia Township, Clermont County, Ohio.

A 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport, operated by James D. Callihan, age 62, of Batavia, Ohio was traveling eastbound on Old State Route 32.

Then the vehicle became disabled partially in the roadway.

A 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier, operated by Ryan M. Palmer, age 39, of Batavia, Ohio was traveling eastbound on Old State Route 32.

Preliminary investigation shows that Mr. Callihan exited his vehicle and was still in the roadway when he and his vehicle were struck by Mr. Palmer’s vehicle.

Mr. Callihan was transported by Central Joint EMS to Clermont Mercy Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Mr. Palmer was not injured and was wearing a seat belt.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol – Batavia Post
