Monica Achberger’s Oil Painting

The 11th Annual Ohio Online Visual Artist Registry Juried Show, featuring 33 works by 31 Ohio artists, is on display at the Columbus Metropolitan Main Library (96 S. Grant Ave.) through Jan. 6.

Loveland, Ohio, based oil painter Monica Achberger was selected for the show.

Presented by the Ohio Arts Council, Columbus Metropolitan Library, and Friends of the Library, the exhibition showcases Ohio artists registered in OOVAR.

OOVAR is a database of work of more than 1,900 artists from Ohio and all over the world.

The artists on display were chosen from a pool of 95 applicants, with almost 285 works being considered.

A Juror’s Choice Award of $1,000 (sponsored by the Ohio Arts Council) and a People’s Choice Award of $500 (sponsored by the Friends of the Library and selected based on ballots cast by patrons of the gallery and library) will be presented at a closing reception on Jan. 6.

This year, the show’s three jurors are:

Charles Kanwischer, Director of the Bowling Green State University School of Art

Laura Anthony, Friends of the Library

Kelly Stevelt, Columbus Metropolitan Library

“The work will show visitors the wonderful breadth and quality of Ohio artists. It’s a great opportunity for the artists to connect with a non-specialist audience in a prestigious venue.” – Charles Kanwischer, Director of the Bowling Green State University School of Art, OOVAR 11th Annual Juried Show Juror

He continued, “As I made my selections, I kept constantly in mind the idea of including works that will bring enjoyment and pleasure to patrons, while at the same time providing opportunities for reflection.”
