Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Drew M. Hertlein has been selected 2017 Trooper of the Year at the Batavia Post.
The selection of Trooper Hertlein, 28, is in recognition of outstanding service during 2017 at the Batavia Post. Fellow officers stationed at Batavia, chose Trooper Hertlein based on leadership abilities, professional ethics, courteous treatment of others, enthusiastic work attitude, and cooperation with supervisors, peers, and the public.
Trooper Hertlein is now in contention for District and State Trooper of the Year to be announced at a later date.
Trooper Hertlein joined the Highway Patrol in 2013 and has served at the Batavia Post. Originally from Wilmington and a graduate of Wilmington High School, Trooper Hertlein previously served our country in the United States Marine Corps. This is the second consecutive year Trooper Hertlein has been selected for this award.
Trooper Hertlein and his wife, Robin, reside in Bethel.
They have three children, Emma, 6, Clara, 4, and Hannah, 1.
