Between Dec. 7 and Dec. 8, 2017, Clermont County experience a string of vehicle thefts, which began in Stonelick Township and continued through Williamsburg and Union Townships. Of the four vehicles stolen, three of vehicles have been recovered, the last being recovered in Grant County, Kentucky, where the suspects stole a struck, as they continued south.
At approximately 12:45 p.m. on Dec. 8, the stolen truck from Grant County, Kentucky was recovered by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee, at which time five juveniles from Clermont County, who are suspected in this string of vehicle thefts, were taken into custody.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office will not have local charges.
Detectives from the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office have filed one count of grand theft of a motor vehicle, a felony of the fourth degree, on each of the juveniles involved.
The juveniles remain in the custody of Jefferson County, pending extradition back to Ohio.
This a multi-jurisdictional investigation that remains ongoing.
This investigation will be discussed in its entirety with the Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office and additional charges are expected.
