Bible Baptist Church: From ashes to groundbreaking

By Brianna Bourne

On April 10th, 2017 Pastor Ted R. House of Bible Baptist Church in Mt. Orab was awakened by several phone calls.

The church had caught fire and things did not look promising.

He rushed to the devastating scene where he was met by several church members and friends. Amidst the chaos, smoke, flames, and loss, Pastor House later said that he had an overwhelming sense of peace in his heart. He knew that God was in control.

Five months later on September 10th, Bible Baptist Church conducted a ground-breaking ceremony. Nineteen shovels were purchased and used by Pastor House and the deacons and trustees of the church. Also in attendance, were several members of the insurance and construction companies.

A prayer was offered followed by a chorus of “amens” and the turning over of soil.

The new chapel is expected to be completed by spring of 2018.

That Sunday morning, Pastor House preached from Isaiah 54, which he termed as a restoration passage.

He encouraged the members and guests in attendance to press forward by building, growing, having faith, and praising God for His bountiful provision.

The message was concluded by giving credit to those responsible for Bible Baptist’s success in the past, present, and future:

“It is because of your faithfulness and the faithfulness of a mighty God that this church was raised up.”
