Everyday Game Owners: Summer Tyler and Amara Cole (age 10)

Summer Tyler and Amara Cole of Everyday Games will be participating in the “SCORE Small Biz Market”. Tyler and her 10-year old granddaughter, Amara, will be demonstrating a prototype of their first board game “Elements” which they hope to have in production in mid 2018.

The Greater Cincinnati SCORE, the small business mentoring organization for entrepreneurs, will host the first time event on Saturday, July 8, at Washington Park, in Over-The-Rhine. The free public event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature more than 50 booths featuring products, food and services.

The event will showcase SCORE small business clients who have been supported by SCORE’s mentoring and low-cost education, said Carlin Stamm of Mt. Lookout, SCORE mentor and event co-organizer. SCORE is a nonprofit organization with more than 100 experienced executive volunteers. It offers free mentoring in finance, operations and marketing and low-cost workshops for small business owners.

Tyler, whom has run a successful business in the past, asked SCORE for assistance with distribution to overseas markets. “I made a request for a SCORE advisor and was matched with Tom Moon,” said Tyler. “Tom and I met and he gave me several resources to check with regard to finding someone to handle fulfillment and distribution. He also cautioned me on ways to avoid not having the right insurance coverage during the manufacturing and distribution process.”

“Our talent bench for SCORE mentors is very deep,” said Dean Swomley, a former P&G executive and SCORE chapter chairman. “Chances are there is not a business problem our mentors have not faced during their careers. We are all connected, engaged and willing to help entrepreneurs succeed in business, and our price tag for mentoring is right – free! We all give of our time, talents and treasure to help local small businesses succeed for the good of the region.”

Tyler, a Village of Batavia resident and Cole, a Mt. Washington resident, will be selling children’s t-shirts featuring the art of children’s book illustrator, June Goulding of Wales, and American artist, Claire Dean. Sales from the shirts will be used to fund the manufacturing of their first game for preschoolers.

The two developed several game concepts when Cole was only five and wanted to play games which didn’t require that she could read. They started the company and have been working on the games for the last two years. Cole is looking forward to participating in the event and show people the game. She said, “I can’t wait to see kids having fun playing our game. The game board has cute illustrations of baby animals. They were drawn by book illustrator, Sherry Neidigh, who is amazing.”

“This is a great opportunity for attendees to meet and support local small business owners and do pre-holiday shopping all in one place,” said Pat McKay, of Cincinnati, event co-organizer.

“We’ll have unique items ranging from crafts to one-of-a-kind gift ideas, to products to pamper yourself.”

Some of the goods and services offered at the event will include: t-shirts; photography; skin care; food products; crafts and sewing; kitchen products; custom clothing and sewing classes; after-school teen programs; smart home systems; massage therapy; catering; leather goods; hair styling; jewelry; mobility aid products; health coaching; pet day care and boarding; yoga instruction; piano lessons for children; and soaps and lotions.
