Williamsburg Local Schools are seeking candidates to fill an open Board of Education seat.

Board member Brent Keeton announced he is relocating and submitted his resignation at the district’s regular business meeting on March 20th.

“We hate to lose Brent from our team,” Greg Wells, Williamsburg Board President, said. “He is a great listener, intuitive, and a calming influence. Brent always focused on the best interest of our students, our school district, and our community.”

Well continued, “Those are qualities not easily replaced, but we live in a community with lots of talented people. We look forward to finding the next great board member to drive Williamsburg schools to even greater heights.”

The board must begin the process to replace Mr. Keeton immediately, and name his replacement within 30 days. The newly appointed school board member will serve until December 31, 2017, which is the expiration of Mr. Keeton’s most recent term, and must file to run in the 2017 November election for the open seat on the Board.

Williamsburg  residents interested in being considered for appointment to the Williamsburg Local School District Board of Education should submit a letter of interest and updated resume to Julie Kamphaus via email at kamphaus_ju@burgschools.org or US Mail at 549 W. Main St. Ste A, Williamsburg, OH 45176.

This letter of interest and resume must be received by Mrs. Kamphaus by 5:00 PM on April 4th, 2017. According to the Ohio School Boards Association, people serving on school boards in Ohio must be at least 18 years old, Williamsburg Local School District residents, and registered voters. If they wish to continue service on the school board, they will stand for election in the next general election (November 7, 2017).

Board President Wells said the Board will review all applications and conduct interviews following the April 4th application deadline, and then appoint Mr. Keeton’s replacement at its April 17th, 2017 business meeting.
