Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted on Sept. 30 certified that petitioners for the Drug Price Relief Act citizen initiated statute have collected an additional 120,030 valid signatures and have met the constitutional requirements to appear on the 2017 General Election ballot.

Petitioners needed 91,677 valid signatures, a number equal to three percent of the total vote cast for governor in the most recent gubernatorial election, 2014. They also needed to collect signatures equaling 1.5 percent of the total vote cast in the most recent gubernatorial election within at least 44 of Ohio’s 88 counties. Having qualified for the ballot, the next step will be for the Ohio Ballot Board to convene to prescribe ballot language for the proposed law and certify it to the Ohio Secretary of State’s Office no later than 75 days before the election – Nov. 7, 2017.
