In June, Collin Dunaway and FFA advisor Holly Jennings had the opportunity to go on a 9-day trip to the beautiful country of Costa Rica. Previously in November, Dunaway had the opportunity to compete at the National FFA Convention, as a National FFA proficiency finalist. He then competed to participate in the FFA travel seminar, where he was awarded the trip to Costa Rica. Fifty FFA members from across the country were selected to go on this trip. Jennings and Dunaway had an adventurous 9 days there. Some major agricultural companies they had the opportunity to visit the Dole banana plantation, Doka coffee plantation, and the Aqua Tilapia Corporation. They experienced Costa Rican agriculture by visiting an organic farm and Don Fernando’s Beef Farm. Jennings and Dunaway also visited a local elementary school where members repainted the fences located around the school. They were able to show their adventurous side by zip lining, visiting a hot spring, and rafting down the Sarapiqui River. Dunaway and Jennings received a new outlook on agriculture and a once in a lifetime opportunity.
