Two Milford Eagles golfers earned trips to the district tournament with their performances in the boys’ Division I sectional at Glenview Golf Course on Oct. 4.

Senior Nathan Arnold finished tied with Kings senior Matthew Schumer at 77, sending both golfers through to the district meet. Another Eagle senior, Aaron Wade, carded a 78 to finish in a four-way tie in 11th place with Moeller’s Stone McCall, Lakota East’s Will Schmidt, and Turpin’s Ryan Lambert. McCall had already qualified for the districts, thanks to Moeller’s fourth-place finish in the team standings, leaving the remaining three golfers to compete in a tiebreaker. Wade made par on the tiebreaker hole to advance.

The Eagles finished fifth as a team, five strokes behind Moeller’s 315 total. Lakota East posted the lowest score, a 306.

Amelia carded a team total of 384 to finish in 12th place. The Barons were led by Lake Anderson, who shot an 80, which tied him for 16th in the individual standings. Glen Este finished in 13th, led by junior Elijah Leiman’s even 100. Goshen finished 14th, paced by Garret Gray’s 89. Fellow senior Austin allen shot a 95 for the Warriors.

The Lady Eagles competed at the southwest district’s Division I event at Walden Ponds. They finished eighth as a team, thanks to junior Casey Broxterman’s 97. Teammate Megan LaFrance carded a 102, to finish in 40th place.

One local golfer already competed in the district meet. Clermont Northeastern’s Skylar Shircliff saw her season come to an end at PipeStone Golf Course on Oct. 5. The junior carded a 102 to finish in a tie for 39th place out of a total of 72 golfers.

Wade and Arnold will get their shot at the district title on Thursday, Oct. 13 at Beavercreek Golf Club. Wade is expected to tee off on hole #10 at 10:40 a.m. with Arnold to follow at 10:50 a.m.
