With six games remaining in the regular season, the Bethel-Tate Tigers boys’ soccer team is in good position. They’re 9-1 overall, 5-0 in the Southern Buckeye Athletic and Academic Conference, and 1.5 games ahead of the second-place team.
While four of the team’s final six games are on the road, they would appear to have put themselves in good position to win the league title.
The team only played one game last week, defeating Goshen 5-1 on Sept. 13. Other SBAAC schools were more active. That same night, Georgetown defeated St. Bernard 8-0 and New Richmond battled Seven Hills to a 2-2 tie. Norwood defeated Felicity-Franklin 4-1, and Amelia dropped a 2-0 decision to Little Miami.
The Cardinals returned to the pitch on Sept. 14 for a non-conference bout against the Ripley Blue Jays, who entered the contest undefeated. The Blue Jays would continue their unbeaten streak with a 4-1 win.
On Sept. 15, New Richmond rallied for a 6-0 win over Western Hills. Fayetteville defeated CNE 3-1, while Norwood earned a 5-0 shutout win over Williamsburg. Goshen and Georgetown battled to a scoreless tie, while Amelia came up short in a 3-1 loss to Winton Woods.
In the Eastern Cincinnati Conference, Glen Este dropped a 5-2 decision to Withrow while Milford fell to Anderson 3-2.
The Eagles would redeem themselves on Sept. 17, picking up a 4-1 victory over Ross. Glen Este defeated Northwest 2-1.
Milford’s winning streak hit three games with a 3-0 win over Monroe on Sept. 19. Williamsburg dropped a 6-0 decision to Georgetown that afternoon.
Glen Este will host Walnut Hills for a 6 p.m. contest on Thursday, Sept. 22. Withrow at Milford, Amelia at Norwood, Batavia at New Richmond and Felicity at Blanchester are all 7 p.m. starts.
Bethel-Tate’s road contest against Georgetown, CNE’s bout at Williamsburg and Goshen’s match at Western Brown are also 7 p.m. contests.
