The Milford Police Department is offering a new safe zone for citizens to complete online transactions. The new Internet Purchase Exchange Location is in the Milford Municipal Building parking lot which is under camera surveillance. The cameras are recording twenty-four hours a day but are not actively monitored so residents are reminded to still use good judgement. There is no need to call ahead to arrange the use of the safety zone because officers will not get involved unless there is a criminal offense. Chief Mills said he first got the idea from the Miami Township Police Department but plans were expedited after a robbery occurred during an online transaction less than half a mile from the police station.
