Brian Farison, of Milford, will compete in the semi-finals of the Toastmasters International® Speech Contest in Washington, D.C. Aug. 18 at their Annual Convention.

Each year thousands of Toastmasters from around the world compete in club, area, division and district speech competitions for a spot in the semi-finals, attempting to advance to the final round. Farison will compete as one of 98 contestants striving to qualify for the final group of 10 speakers. On Aug. 20, the 10 finalists will deliver 5-7 minute speeches, and a panel of experienced Toastmasters will choose the World Champion of Public Speaking®.

Farison sharpened his semi-final speech through months of practice, and by visiting local Toastmasters clubs to audience-test his delivery. His competitive speech entitled “Perfect Memories” tells the story of helping his son enter a contest, where an important life lesson is learned when things go awry.

Farison represents his local club Wry Toasters, and Toastmasters District 40 consisting of 182 clubs in portions of Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia. In addition to Wry Toasters, Farison is also a member of the Toastmasters club Competitive Speakers Cincinnati.
