UC Clermont College offered ‘Obstacle Free 2016’ – a summer bridge program – aimed at first generation college students from Clermont, Brown and Adams counties.
UC Clermont’s College Success Program and Testing Services partnered to launch this program funded by a Diversity & Inclusion Grant and UC Clermont ($10,000 total).
“The Obstacle Free Program funded twelve students and ran from June 21-23.”
Goals of the program were to provide small group assistance with:
• Identifying a career guidance according to strengths
• Completing a Federal Financial Aid Application (FAFSA)
• Academic review/placement test preparation — guidance in writing and math
• Navigating the application process at UC Clermont College (fee waived)
• One-on-one sessions with an advisor
Students who completed the program received a scholarship for a free class ($667 value).
