Emergency appeal for Type O

Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati is releasing an emergency appeal for Type O blood. All eligible individuals are being asked to donate blood immediately; especially type O negative donors as there is a critical need for this particular blood type.

“The supply of Type O blood in the Tri-State has plummeted. O Negative supplies are 41 percent below levels considered necessary to meet daily and emergency needs”, reports Alecia Lipton, Hoxworth spokesperson. “The situation is considered critical.”

O Negative is the universal donor type and can be given to any patient in need, but only 6% of the population has O Negative blood.

Hoxworth is always in need of lifesaving blood. Schedule an appointment by calling 513-451-0910 or visit www.hoxworth.org.
