Sex-trafficking in the u.s is more prevalent than ever. Nearly 83 percent are u.s citizens, mostly 12-14 year old girls.

Problem: It’s not hard to imagine the frustration of those repulsed by human trafficking–people who want to see it eradicated as quickly as possible, but who are hindered by the inability to effectively gain the ear of society.

It must be equally difficult when you’re in the media and you have the platform, but not the words and/or you fear for your safety or the safety of your company if you use the wrong words.

The sheer amount of work that has to go into researching appropriate terms and statistics, getting in touch with authorities, scheduling interviews with witnesses or victims, dealing with seemingly-contradictory information, etc. is intimidating.

Then, there’s the fear for the victims and witnesses who are brave enough to be interviewed. It’s enough of an obstacle that, nationally-speaking, sexual abuse is almost never spoken of in the media and even more rarely is human trafficking discussed.

Meanwhile, we have communities, and even entire cities, falling apart due to the lack of necessary support to effectively combat this atrocity. Sexual abuse is a plague on nearly every city in America, while sex trafficking thrives in and around the tourist hubs.

Solution: In addition to everything you already do to address abuse/trafficking, interview local advocates, advocacy groups, police, and specializing attorneys, with an additional emphasis on related events. Let us explain the problem and statistics.

Opportunity: Angela Young of the local group, Angel’s Ministry, is organizing Unite to End Slavery, scheduled for summer 2017 in downtown Cincinnati, and slated to be bigger than Live Aid. A large percentage of the funds generated during this event will go to grow Cincinnati into a strong, unified, and resourceful community with drastically lower general crime, poverty, and human trafficking rates. In preparation for this event, and with the support of several local advocacy groups and ministries, Angela will be hosting a release party for the first e-book in her new trilogy: Let It Be Done. Refreshments will be available and local political representatives have been invited.
