Dear Editor,

Disasters – destruction – disease – and deaths! Horrific headlines that we see each day in America. On Thursday, May 5 Americans will pray to God on this 66th annual National Day of Prayer.

From the court house to the state house, from public parks to church pews people will meet to pray. A noon prayer service will be held on the Court House steps in downtown Batavia.

Commissioner Bob Proud will introduce elected officials who will do Bible reading while area pastors pray for our country, our county, our community, and our children.

Patriotic music will echo thru the streets while “ole Glory’ waves in the warm breeze. Noted soloist John Hale will sing several songs as well as Todd Kritzwiser and Jennifer Thomas.

All area pastors are invited to the “Pastors Brunch” that morning at 11 a.m. on the 3rd floor of the Administration Bldg. This bountiful brunch is hosted by Pastor Dale Campfield and the Eastgate Community Church. Each pastor may bring one vet from their church as his guest.

As Americans pray on May 5th, we’re reminded of 11 Chronicles 7:14 – ‘if my people who are called by my name, shall pray and seek My face, turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
