SBC admits Wilmington, Clinton-Massie and East Clinton

At a special meeting March 17, the Executive Board of the Southern Buckeye Athletic and Academic Conference voted unanimously to accept the applications of Wilmington, Clinton-Massie and East Clinton for membership beginning with the 2017-18 school year.

“The SBAAC is excited to raise the level of competition for student-athletes in our league with the addition of these three quality schools,” said New Richmond Supt. Adam Bird, president of the SBAAC executive board.

The three Clinton County schools are currently members of the South Central Ohio League but were left without a future home for their athletic programs following the announcement that the five other SCOL schools were planning to form another conference. Their membership is the SBAAC is pending approval by their respective boards of education. Both Clinton-Massie and East Clinton were past members of the SBAAC.

Current members of the SBAAC are New Richmond, Blanchester, Amelia, Batavia, Bethel-Tate, Clermont Northeastern, Felicity-Franklin, Georgetown, Goshen, Norwood, Western Brown and Williamsburg. Fayetteville is a member of the SBAAC for football only but remains a member of the Southern Hills Athletic Conference in all other sports.

Amelia and Norwood will not be in the league after this school year.
